Ice cream (gelato) was tasty. Blue bubble gum flavour left well alone. Long queue for take away with just a few indoor bar stools, if you want to get out of the Lakeside bustle.
Good range of beers and many different types of gin. Food was good but not spectacular.
Priceless exhibits are not shown to best advantage. Poorly lit and cramped although new hangars should help this in future. The place was a building site on the RAF’s 100th anniversary in April 2018.
Modern building with good facilities makes perfect place for the permanent exhibits & the temporary, specialist exhibitions. Special Forces in March 2018 was particularly engaging & informative.

Some British aviation gems in a new building. Expert knowledge in the volunteers, with some quite spectacular restorations on show.
ex Country House in magnificent garden setting. Quirky architecture is reflected in a warren of corridors & stairs, but all safe enough and adds to the charm. Wheelchair lift only goes to 1st floor.
Comfortable place to have a good value cooked breakfast. Free wi-fi. Friendly staff on the breakfast shift.
A civilised little gem, off a country lane near Upminster. Tea outside on the small verandah in the summer is a delight. Proper china pot, cups and saucers. Friendly staff. Delicious snacks.
Great museum with a.fine view over the port and Carrick Roads. Search & Rescue exhibition a must, evem if the Sea King is poorly lit.
