One, if the if not the best biergarden in the NYC area. Grab a seat outside to watch the soccer games on the outdoor TVs. The garden is open all year and has heat lamps!
Beer Gardens are great, especially this one in Astoria. NYC's oldest beer garden. It is unpretentious and has a very relaxing atmosphere. Nice beer menu and good food.
Love their beers but hate the dust. Outdoor setting gets very hot in the summer. Get you sunblock. Food and drinks are standard. It's a gem in the neighborhood, the place to get drunk during lunch
The Czech food is amazing. Succulent roast pork, goulash, potato pancakes and dumplings. Also, of course, a solid selection of European and American beers with great outdoor seating.
The OG beer garden that's always worth a trip to Astoria. Grab one of their plentiful outdoor tables and kick back with beers and great Czech food (get the fried cheese!) for the perfect summer day.

All day everyday from Sept 28th to Oct 6th:"Oktoberfest in the Garden" with pig roasts, raffles, bands including the Polka Brothers (duh) on the 6th, and plenty of Oktoberfest-style brews.
This is a great place but DO NOT bring in outside food. They're insane. Made my friend finish a few last gulps of her soda in her purse. Let me slide tonight with some water in my bottle. Lighten up!!
Haven't been downstairs in a while, but it's amazing now. Dart boards, small bar, great decor, check it out next time you're here and the outdoor space is packed!
If you're only drinking then there's nothing you need to read, go for beer. But if you actually want to eat something good, ask for the menu, do not get fooled by the grill.
This place is a classic establishment - the beer selection is not large, but what they have is great. I like the Franziskaner with the potatopierogies.
