Love the movies, the space, and the people here. Theaters might be small and you can hear the subway, but just sit close to the screen and enjoy the charm of it all. Try an almond raspberry bar too.

A great clean indie theater, so you won't get the talkative jerk person here that often. Only down side : Popcorn is more expensive and smaller, and still use fake butter.
One of a few theaters in the city that have a comfortable waiting area. Plus a cafè that is stocked with healthier snacks. (Don't worry they have classic cinema snacks as well!)

One of the oldest art house theaters to still be open today. Check out their selection of foreign and independent films. Support an important downtown institution.
Delightful, non-AMC movie theater. You’ll feel the subway rumble beneath you, which feels correct. Also, the cafe area is spacious, and the menu includes solid pre-post viewing options.
There are ticket kiosks inside the front door to the right if you're in a hurry. But I like to wait on line at the box office here for the full movie-going experience.
My 2nd favorite movie theater in New York, right after Nitehawk. Great for dates! The movie snacks are downstairs but they also have some food upstairs by the entrance.

Great selection of movies. Buy tickets online through Fandango if you have limited time, save tickets to your wallet and use the QR code to get in the cinema.
They have the best popcorn out of all of the theaters I've gone to. On top of that they have free refills for their soda pop! The lounge is also a nice place to wait for movies to play.
DANGER TAMEylül 16, 2014Always great film selection and well maintained theaters. Cafe selects in the concession stand as you enter but regular movie fare (popcorn, soda, candy) are downstairs.
Some of the seats have springs poking out! Don't take off your coat / settle in too comfy until you've found a good spot for your behind. Once you have, enjoy the show.
Lary BSMart 16, 2013One of the oldest film centers in NYC. The place has been renovated. Special screenings with guest stars are held there sometimes. The theaters are cosy. The bar is awesome.

Best selection of indies in the city. Nice, but expensive, cafe/in the lobby. Subway rumble can be a bit distracting at times.

An indie house staple of Manhattan. It's infamous lobby provides a great waiting room to discuss all things film.- One of my favourite cinema, lots of indie and foreign films. You never go wrong with a film here!!

They always have great movies. Kind of a landmark film place in a cool area of New York. Even a nice café area for before your movie.
