Camping checkout is 10am. Pay for the extra day @ $20. You can roam around the park / leave whenever since it includes free parking (usually $15 anyway).
No Boardwalk! But absolutely clean and lovely beach! If you dont want to spend the whole day at the beach, go after 5 PM , the beach is half empty and no entrance fee either!
Interesting history, felt like a fort from another time and place. Officers' former homes available for long-term lease, though tenants are responsible for the renovation.
Make sure you have some bug spray for flies after a rainy day. Watch the red flag to let you know when the flies are coming. If its in your direction you're good.
