I took Bolt from DC to NYC and return. Great experience! I had a super neat Greyhound bus on both trips. Leather seats, sockets, foot rest, functioning wifi. Comfort far exceeded my expectations!
Three codes: A,B,C. A boards first! Book early for the best prices, and don't worry contrary to comments posted there is a bathroom on the bus! The trip is approx. 4 hours. Bring snacks!
Koreans need to watch out for the old white-haired man who'll give you a sob story about being short cash for bus fare to DC. He'll claim he's a professor that overslept & missed the bus. It's a scam!
Everything is pretty clearly labeled. Only thing is there's no overhang area so if it's raining you and your luggage will get drenched while you wait for the bus.
show up 30 minutes before departure - yes including the snobby A-class passengers. stay in your seat until the bus departs or risk losing your seat! I've seen it happen. and please no hot foods!
Take the A,C,E train in NYC and it brings u to the corner of the stop. U can also take the 1,2,3 train but u'll have to walk a block as it drops u off at 34 & 7 ave.
If they are short on buses they will sometimes use greyhound buses so make sure to look out for bolt bus drivers standing in front of greyhound buses or else they'll leave without you
There tends to be tourists on the line who don't understand that seating takes place in sections. Respect the line. But respect the sections too. You paid for it!
Jan 11 (right now!!): the National Day of Action Against Guantanamo & the NDAA! Join us at 1130 in Lafayette Square across from the White House. The program and march will run from Noon-2:30pm EST
I regularly have very positive experiences with Bolt Bus. I would recommend the service to people traveling between dc and boston who travel midday. Otherwise megabus has an overnight, direct bus.
The A,C, & E train in NYC will take u to the station. The 1,2,3 is the alternative but u have to walk a block to 8 ave as it drops u off at 34 & 7 ave.
The bus is clean with nice seats and easy power access, but it was 15 minutes late picking us up and over an hour late to our destination. Don't use it if timing is important on your trip.
Buying online is easy, but doesn't guarantee 'A' seating. What it does do is lets you board any bus on the same route at about the right time, even if you're 2 hours late getting there.
It's harder to get to this spot by foot, but it's easier to get on the bus. Particularly on the correct bus. Wish more taxis would congregate around here.
If you value your life you might avoid @BoltBus... My driver is on the phone, texting, shuffling papers, reading schedules, and swerving across lanes at 70mph. BoltBus needs to conduct driver reviews
Welcome to NYC! New York Guest is just around the corner and can help you get a room, Broadway ticket, sightseeing voucher and more! Call 212-302-4019 or stop by for special discounts!
Drivers run the gamut: some are nice, some are grumpy, some are total dicks. Just be patient and respectful. I've seen drivers masterfully handle blizzards and heavy traffic. Give 'em a break.
On the way back from Philly, if you're going to 6th and Grand, make sure you tell the bus driver. If not, he'll take the Holland Tunnel anyway, but go straight to 34th St.
Try to get tix early and be in the A group otherwise - even if you buy advance online tix - you're relegated to standby w the people paying cash and it's kinda frustrating.
If it's raining or kinda hot out, theirs a air-conditioned store like 10 steps away. Old Navy is my comfy waiting spot. Borders books has a better view but the A/C is much weaker.
