Came here with a massive group when Veselka was packed. The pierogi were amazing and the beer really hit the spot. A nice hidden gem that doesn't look like it's there from the outside.
The Ukrainian sampler platter is a full meal of stuffed cabbage, kielbasa and pierogies(vareniki). The restaurant is comfortable but the restrooms are downstairs.
Borscht very sweet, combo platter w meat is good. Has some sort of stuffed cabbage that's delicious, and the dumplings are also delicious. Nice calm interior, like grandmas house
I was happy to see so many Ukrainians here! Food was disappointing. French fries, Cesar salad, shrimps. Seriously? It’s time to open real Ukrainian restaurants that will feel and taste like home.💙💛
halusky: a plate of the dumplings topped with caramelizedsauerkraut and bacon load up on the restaurant's quality sour cream & spread it liberally over your plate of dumplings. Don't shy on the salt
Cheese blintzes taste like the East Village of bygone days. Each is filled with lightly sweetened farmer cheese & fried in butter until the edges are just crisp enough while the middle remains tender. Daha fazlasını oku
Great cheap grub in a cosy dining room, like you're eating at grandma's house. The pierogis are good, so is the goulash and the breadedcutlet is delicious.
Come in at 7 for Tango lesson (bring student ID for discount). Then get a table at the restaurant and order the VealGoulash or Vareniki w/sauerkraut and mushrooms. The best ukrainian food in nyc!
"The sauerkrautpierogis came, with a little puddle of fried onions, a dense reduction, in their midst, and a paper cup of sour cream. Eyza, a connoisseur of pierogis, was impressed." --James Traub Daha fazlasını oku
Food is ok, but not amazing. The pierogi are solid (esp the ones filled with meat or potatoes). Wasn't a huge fan of the blintzes or the hash browns. Service was efficient, but the decor is lacking.
Not sure how often tango night happens here, but find out and GO! A uniquely beautiful scene. All ages dancing together cheek to cheek in the EV -- loved it!
