Amazing town. Everything you want in a ski/mountain town. History, great hikes, good food. This is the real deal and what you wish Aspen could be like.
Surprisingly great NPS site with a wonderful scenic drive and a lot to see and do. Can get hot in the summer.
Small visitor center but with a nice view off the back. Some shade in the back where you can sit and eat.

A very impressive sea of cactus right out the back. Make sure you take a hike when here.
Very easy trail with a nice overlook. Parking can be crowded and not great that you can hear the road.
Short tiny walk to see a bunch of petroglyphs. Well worth getting out of the car for.

Beautiful old mission with a lot of interesting history that is well told. Be sure to talk the short walk to the river to understand the geography of the site.

Great cute restaurant with great food. The eggplant starter, striped bass, and steak are all standouts. Helpful that they do takeout, as they don’t have outdoor seating.
Really stellar Mexican restaurant. The hazelnut mole is fantastic. Great salsa and margaritas. Perfect stop for lunch when in the area.
Nice upscale restaurant in an old train depot. The bread, foie gras, and radish salad are all great options. Mains are a bit hit and miss. If you have kids sit outside and watch trains.
