New kid on the block. Good for coffee/breakfast/brunch/lunch. Looks tiny but there's actually seating inside! And a lovely - adn a bit random - brunch menu (sloppy joes, amazing pancakaes, nachos...)
Love this place - and it's smaller second venue in Stockbridge. Good for coffee and great tea selection. Lovely Scandanavian food and bakery. Apparently amazing pizzas!

Great food and totally worth the ££. What you may not know is there's a lovely courtyard where you're welcome for drinks and bar menu if you aren't up for the full dinner inside. Also fab coffee.
Edinburgh seriously lacks sushi. As a sushi fiend, this is the only one worth going to for a proper Japanese fix.

Best (and possibly most expensive) restaurant experience in Edinburgh. Amazing concept - 2 starters, then 1 share plate, then 2 mains...you get the idea. Definitely get the optional cheese board!
Cozy, candle-lit atmosphere in an ancient building with amazing knowledgeable and friendly service. One of those rare spots where you feel so comfy you can stay there for hours and hours!
The vibe in this place is awesome - you feel like you're actually in mexico. Sharing a margarita jug is a must!

Great for cocktails, and a cool dinner spot. Not quiet an intimate - more like loud and funky. Love the truffle mac and cheese!
I recommend dinner here even for non-vegetarians. Great,interesting meals and super value. Actually - it might be even more interesting if you're not a vegetarian to try something new!
Awesome burgers for lunch or dinner - I always ask to swap for the cajun fries, and they always comply :)
Officially the best burgers in Edi. Love that you get the option to pick the meat and then the topping (so any burger can be a chicken burger!) And also you can have any burger without the bun.
Big outdoor patio, that not a lot of people know about, so it's always got space on sunny days for a lazy coffee with cake or lunch outside.
Go to the bistro restaurant around the corner on Thistle street, not the downstairs cafeteria on Hanover. Great vegetarian food for lunch or dinner.

As you can guess by the name, this is a tea place. Has really good scones, but also a decent selection of wraps/sandwiches and lunch food.

Called Zupa Kitchen - a tiny place that's easy to miss. Not a pizza place as the description says - more East European style shareable food. The perogies (dumplings) are amazing!

Cool joint, slightly off the beaten track. Delicious menu, with nice small plates to have as snacks with one of their many beers, or something more hearty (like a rabbit burger!?) of the mains list.
Sweet cocktail bar - and actually not ridiculously priced! They managed to make those retro neon signs look cool.

I imagine this bar might have been there in the 1800s! It's so small, old... and charming. Love that it's totally hidden in a tiny street.
Hidden gem - simple food done right. With 1992 food prices served in 1942 mix matched bowls. Great for breakke, and lunch too.
