It's cliche, but I don't think I've had a better Japanese sushi centric meal in NYC. Went for a special occasion & it beat expectations. If you love Neta's combo of sushi & kaiseki & have cash to burn

Go for the kaiseki vs the omakase, it's 17 pieces of sushi instead of 20 but the little plates that come before sushi and the dessert course are completely worth it!

Omakase-only sushi bar Shuko is dark and intimate, complete with a dining cave. Expect simple, classic preparations, and the occasional truffle encrusted sushi roll or caviar-topped lump of toro. Daha fazlasını oku

Grab a bite at NYC's newest restaurant. It hosts a 20-seat sushi counter where diners will be served a set menu of 12 to 15 courses by both Kim and Lau. Daha fazlasını oku

If you can handle a big meal, go for the kaiseki. You get the omakase and some amazing additions. Milk bread with tuna tartar with caviar 😮😍. And they play mostly hip hop. Pricey too.

Been following these guys from masa to neta to shoku popup to here. Come hungry and get the 15 course. Cocktails early and sake later. Chat up your chef and get a second round of Hokkaido uni. A+++

My personal favorite omakase experience in the city. Fish, flavors, vibe, music, service, sake served in Zalto glasses... 10/10 across the board.

Love this place, come here at least once a month! Best omakase in NYC, hands down. Worth the money and better than some other more expensive spots. Service is impeccable and the atmosphere is ideal.

People talk about the apple pie, but the citrus granite did it for me. Sadly, if you go the kaiseki route, which you should, you'll have to forgo the uni flight that comes in the omakase.

In the conservative world of sushi, SHUKO is pushing the genre forward with little more than gentle nudge.

an incredible kaiseki: some courses so good, I ate them so very slowly to keep the flavor going long. if you are able, reserve the private table downstairs for your crew.

Talk to anyone who eats or cooks for a living and many will profess an devotion to all things sushi. Count me as a member of that group. I’m happiest sitting in front of chefs Jimmy Lau and Nick Kim. Daha fazlasını oku

This was the best sushi I've ever had. Added "extras" to the omikase and it was worth it. Sake sommelier super helpful.

Shuko often only serves about two pieces of the meaty delicacy as part of the menu, which Kim grills over the binchotan and places in a hammock of nori. The texture is pure foie gras. ★★★

Overall very positive. Those expecting true kaiseki should either order the omakase or adjust their expectations, but quality and taste were excellent. Service apropos for EV but not NYC's best.

Exceptional kaiseki. Sit at the sushi bar by jimmy and be prepared to chat, covering all topics from fish buying to wilderness survival to career aspirations.

Comparable sushi to Japan itself, only offers omakase menus but it's probably the best sushi in NYC
