The truck only operates through the fall. Luckily, the new brick-and-mortar shop in the East Village has answered our prayers so we can get our fix way past ice cream season.
Most will go straight for the classic Chairman Bao (pork belly) or the obviously tasty Birdhaus (fried chicken). But do not sleep on the Broccolino (tempura broccoli). Extremely good.
Noodles with ginger and scallion, roast pig or duck, shrimp wontons, flowering chives. Cheap, fast, actually great — and open till 4 a.m.
Try the sampler platter. Brats, pretzels, kraut, potato pancakes, etc. More than enough for 8.
