Great if your in the area or on the way to Skye. Possibly the most iconic castle in Scotland. Go early and avoid the crowds.

Beautiful loch - makes a super day trip from Inverness. Visit Urquhart castle or just drive round.
The youth hostel campsite is tents only. The beach with the stump is lovely for campervans. The hiking trail next to it leads to town and you can use the loos and showers at the youth hostel campsite.
The facilities are great, there is even a campers kitchen with gas stoves. The beach is amazing and views are stunning

If you're taking the train from fort William sit on the left hand side for better views of the loch and the viaduct
If you're in for a short walk (~1h), go to the station a bit further down the road. Hidden behind the café car starts a path along the hillside, offering beautiful views on the lake and the viaduct.

Nice castle that has been occupied continuously for 800 years. Beautiful gardens. As someone else mentioned, the walled garden is brilliant. They also had a greenhouse which smelt divine

Go when the tide is turning for a good change of spotting the UK's most Northerly colony of bottle nosed dolphins
Beautiful - it takes about one and a half hours to walk the trails (at a quick pace), but leave yourself 3 or 4 - and take a decent camera with lots of batteries and SD cards (or film!)
Lovely place .. just go there and stop by for a cup of tea at old mateys place on the way back.
Worth the visit with excellent audio guide and historic items back past Bonnie Prince Charlie. Add it to your visit list
