This was my fave restaurant during my lastest trip there. The oysters are HUGE. I had a dozen raw all to myself. Chargrilled oysters are life changing. Bloody Mary was topped with shrimp and oysters.
The oysters here where the best! We ended up having two dozen and we also had the shots with oysters in them that were phenomenal....skip the line at Acme & go to Felix's
It's all about the chargrilled oysters. Truly amazing. Raw oysters are great too but mainly serve as a contrast that highlights how delicious the chargrilled ones are!
The place was great, the oysters were good and the waitress Linda was incredibly!! nice. However, the prices were steep and the chargrilled oysters really just tasted chargrilled without the oyster
Directly across the street from Acme, sharing a similar neon sign, Felix's is a bit less crowded, a touch less touristy and offers up fatty and fresh oysters on the half shell.
Good oysters. Be careful about those “market price” tags they can be a shocker when the check comes ($20 for a po boy or for fried crab) service was absolutely amazing though (shoutout to Linda 🥹💖)
Everything was sold out sadly when we were here. That ending said the shrimp boil was good. Bloody Marys were fantastic! Jambalaya was very good, broiled oyster and raw were good too!
Oh Felix. This is definitely a have to visit restaurant here in the French quarter. The chargrilled oysters are to die for. The crawfish étouffée has so much flavor it is just perfect.
Awesome grilled oysters, and solid other local dishes too (we especially enjoyed shrimp & grits). Saves you an hour in the Acme line (which I'd still do sometimes too)
Raw oysters are served Sans-plates, ON the bar, and without any vinaigrette. Lemons and horseradish are self-serve. Chargrilled oysters, red beans, and blackened gator are recommended.
Ask for Izzy at the bar. He is the best! He’ll hook you up with what’s good and must haves. Crawfish is awesome and the blackened gator is a definitely must have!!
Would definitely recommend the chargrilled oyster! After 2nd failing to get into Acme Restaurant, we found this great restaurant with exceptionally good food! Loved it!
Had half a dozen of oysters and the bayou platter (jambalaya, gumbo, & red beans and rice). I recommend sitting in the bar as the service is better and the oystermen are good fun. Will be coming back.
Sit at the bar, chat with Keith as he shucks directly onto the counter, and definitely try the chargrilled oysters - so amazing. Best oysters we had in our time in NOLA.
Did someone say chargrilled oysters? Order more than you think you need or want. Bayou sampler platter was banging! Same with the shrimp and roast beef po boys!
Lots of ways to have oysters. Chargrilled were great, Bienville good, shoulda tried buffalo. Saw plates of shucked raw oysters stacked on top of each other, ready to go out, which seems sketch.
Across the street from Acme, I couldn't believe that I liked Felix's more! No extremely long line. Delicious chargrilled oysters.. Sit at the bar and have fun with the Down to earth staff.
All I know is that the chargrillef oysters are great, the staff are fun, and the price is right. Note that the far side of the restaurant near the grill gets a bit toasty.
Grab a seat at the bar - you'll beat the queue! Grab yourself a dozen juicy chargrilled oysters and a cup of jumbalaya and you're ready for more drinks!
The breading is a bit weirder than other places, but the oysters are spot on. For the best chance to try a little of everything, get a half po boy and a side.
Felix definitely wins the acme vs Felix duel! Gotta get the chargrilled oysters and the cocktail sauce from the raw oysters is to finger-lickin good!!!!
I think it was just the chef for the day because our order had to be remade 3 times. The 3rd time the manager made our char-grilled oysters and they were perfect.
Long line at Acme, so we went to Felix's. We sat at the bar and the raw oysters and shrimp po boy were both excellent. Next time I think I'll stand at the bar and eat 'em as they shuck 'em!
Before eating here, my husband and I hated oysters. After having their chargrilled oysters, we can't get enough. Do yourself a favor and get a dozen. Get two dozen. You're welcome.
Decent prices, casual atmosphere, YUMMY oysters (we got them on the half shell), and delicious bread pudding (we split one order). Caution: Their horseradish is POTENT, it *will* kick your butt!
The food was just so-so. Everything came out fast but at room temperature. However, the drinks were outstanding! Try the Zulu Margarita. It’s wonderful
